There are many famous quotes about fate. Most of them tell us something along the lines of ending up where you are supposed to be, with not much left up to you.

But, what if you actually determine your own fate? The writer Marissa Meyer (Cress) wrote: “Maybe there isn’t such a thing as fate. Maybe it’s just the opportunities we’re given and what we do with them.”

That is exactly what happened to Ronel Snyman (38). She admits that she ended up in her role as a warehouse manager for Silverstar Function Hiring “by accident”.

“Maryke asked me to help out with their new business for a while. And I’m still here,” she laughs.

Ronel loves the job she is so good at. In fact, it is one of her favourite things in the world.

“There is never one day that repeats itself here,” she says. “Every day has new challenges”.

She likes challenges and changes. Before, she worked as a bank teller, salesperson and even did some administrative work. All of these jobs gave her the skills and prepared her to handle her current position.

When she is not working, she loves the sea and to dance around in her kitchen and living room. She enjoys being home and spending time with her kids and family. And with her miniature Dachshund, Choci.

Perhaps she loves Choci so much because he is loyal and forgiving no matter what the circumstances. Ronel feels this is the most valuable lesson she’s ever learnt: “Forgive. Forgive people despite what happened. Keep your side clean.”
